Editor’s Note:

Terakeet is growing by leaps and bounds! We stack our team with truly-all star professionals, the best and brightest minds in the business. Shannon Reedy, Terakeet’s VP of Account Management is no exception. Her leadership, drive, and generosity inspire us every day and continues to drive enormous value for our customers. Shannon took some time to sit down with us for this month’s Humans of Terakeet feature – read on to find out more about how she came to work with us, her passions outside of work, and her Spotify shortlist.

Q1: How did you come to work at Terakeet? What is your favorite part about working here?

Terakeet and I met at a career fair in February ‘09 at Syracuse University. It was the final semester of my senior year and I was coming to the realization that I’d be one of many graduating during a recession and wasn’t walking into the most ideal job market. After chatting with their team at the fair and with each discussion and interview, I realized how special this place was. As small as the team was at the time (around 10 people), they had lofty goals and were up to something big that I so badly wanted to be a part of.

What has been the constant for me is an appreciation for the tireless spirit of invention, iteration, and evolution. That’s why I love it here. These core values have also been a strong contributor to our overall success.

Q2: Tell us a little more about you outside of work! What’s one thing most people wouldn’t know about you?

When I’m not working I’m momming, teaching yoga, listening to podcasts, taking long walks with my husband John, 20-month-old daughter, Sloane, and Saint Bernard mix, Rosie (@saintberdoodle on Instagram, shameless plug).

Some may not know that I’ve been teaching yoga at a local studio for the last 8 years and love every minute spending time with that community. This practice has connected me with life-long friends, it’s allowed me to travel the country to teach, train, and attend workshops and has honed skills that have helped me grow personally and professionally. Yoga introduced me to the necessity of meditation, the criticalness of mind-body connection, and taught me the power of tuning in and always actively listening.

Q3: What’s your current obsession?

Brene Brown. I’ve been following her for years, but her words and insight has never been so needed. She launched a podcast this spring and her timing couldn’t have been more perfect. The conversations she engages in with her guests are authentic, honest, and carry the non-negotiable attribute of action. Her curiosity and way of distilling and cutting through the noise with her guests is unmatched.

Q4: Choose a movie title for the story of your life.

“ The Silver Linings Playbook” as there’s always hope and deep wisdom in the ups and more so, the downs of life.

Q5: What’s the strangest or coolest thing that’s ever happened to you?

Becoming a mother is very strange but incredibly cool … the physical, emotional, and psychological roller coaster, I continue to be in awe of it all.

Q6: What would your desert island band or artist be, and why?

I’m a bit of a Spotify junky and can’t pick just one band or artist. I could pick an album or more specifically, a soundtrack. The music from HBO’s Big Little Lies has a little something for every mood, featuring Otis Redding, Leon Bridges, Aretha Franklin, Patti Smith, Alabama Shakes, My Morning Jacket, Michael Kiwanuka, and so many others.

Q7: What is one thing you’ve tried recently that has helped you stay calm and focused?

I’ve missed my morning and evening commute to and from the office when I would have the opportunity to decompress over the quietness in the car ride or passively listening to a podcast. I’ve been taking 20-30 minutes every day to get outside to go for a walk or run. Tuning into a Peloton outdoor class or catching up on a podcast has been a mental vacation. Committing to getting outside to take meetings and calls or simply move has been an especially effective counter to the often long periods sitting at my desk and has offered a chance for some vitamin D!
