Humans of Terakeet: Jocelyn Ravesi

Editor’s Note:

We sat down for a virtual interview with Jocelyn Ravesi (Sr. Digital Outreach Specialist & Team Lead) to chat about how she keeps in touch with her big family, as well as her love of adventure (and reality TV).

Q1: How did you come to work at Terakeet? What is your favorite part about working here?

I heard about Terakeet through word of mouth, and [I heard it was] one of the best places to work in the Syracuse area. I was able to connect with Jordan Arnold (Sr. Director of Outreach) to talk about Terakeet, and our insightful discussion was one of many determining factors that led me to apply.

Terakeet is a very special workplace with a team-oriented, driven, and positive culture. These are most definitely my favorite aspects of coming into work every day. The people are what make the company what it is, and I have never been so inspired by so many individuals on a daily basis. Not only do I continuously learn from those around me, but the feedback I receive is something that I can build off of and emulate, to encourage and guide the people on my [own] team.

Q2: Tell us a little more about you outside of work! What’s one thing most people wouldn’t know about you?

I have a lot of siblings (1 biological sister, 4 half-siblings and 2 step sisters to be exact) and we’re all extremely close, so outside of work, I make a conscious effort to spend time with them. Even though that is definitely more difficult during these times, a quick FaceTime® call is something that we look forward to on a regular basis and is something that creates more positivity for me throughout the week.

Q3: What’s your current obsession?

Reality TV will always be my current obsession. “The Bachelor,” “Love Is Blind,” “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” — you name it. I’m always binging the latest season or watching in real-time.

Q4: Choose a movie title for the story of your life.

I would title the movie of my life as, “Life’s An Adventure.” Seeking new places and gaining new experiences, whether it’s traveling to a new destination or doing something outside of my comfort zone, is my absolute favorite! Living life to the fullest is important to me, and I’d want this movie to compile memories that I have made and would want to create.

Q5: What’s the strangest or coolest thing that’s ever happened to you?

During one of my trips to the West Coast, my sisters and I decided to take a trip to Mt. Hood Meadows in Oregon for the day. The drive consisted of windy roads and incredible views. This was something we’ve always wanted to do, and after researching, we found a location with a ski lift. We ended up having the unique experience of riding a bobsled track down the side of a huge hill with the view of the mountain in front of us. This is something I will always remember and consider one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me. The fact that I got to do it with my sisters made it even better!

Q6: What would your “Desert Island” band or artist be, and why?

Definitely Khalid! He’s my all-time favorite artist and has a mix of slower and more upbeat songs so I would be able to switch it up, depending on how I’m feeling.

Q7: What is one thing you’ve tried recently that has helped you stay calm and focused?

While working from home, I try to maintain a consistent routine. Doing the simple things in the morning like making my bed, drinking a cup of coffee, eating a good breakfast, and even stepping outside to get some fresh air has really helped me stay focused and calm. I’ve also been listening to a lot more music lately, which is something that helps me stay motivated and energized throughout the workday.
