Terakeet recently placed in the top 5 of SMB workplaces in New York State for the first time. Thursday morning, our team was pleasantly surprised to log onto the awards page and find that Terakeet had been recognized as one of the top workplaces in all of New York State! Specifically, we ranked in the No. 5 spot on the SMB list, smashing our previous listing benchmark at No. 22 in 2017.
We’re especially excited to receive this honor not just because we were recognized alongside some incredibly distinguished companies, but also because our own people took the time to recognize the culture we are working hard to build. The application process also involved a lot of collaboration and input from a variety of departments, from HR and recruiting to marketing, design and development – and was a true testament to our ability to pull together, work quickly and showcase our value from a cultural and business perspective, rooted in our core values.
The ranking considered nearly 45,000 employee surveys in the New York State or the tri-state/New York Metro Statistical Area. Great Place to Work, a global people analytics and consulting firm, evaluated more than 60 elements of team members’ experience on the job. These included the extent to which employees trust leaders, the respect with which people are treated, the fairness of workplace decisions, and how much camaraderie there is among the team. Rankings are based on employees’ feedback and reward companies who best include all employees, no matter who they are or what they do for the organization.
Of course, we recognize how things shifted rapidly in the wake of the global COVID-19 pandemic. To conduct a thorough company-wide survey in such a chaotic environment was both extremely difficult and necessary to gauge how people were feeling and how we could adjust to serve the needs and unique challenges our employees now face. That, in essence, is the fabric of our workplace culture – care and respect for others, and a leadership team that values its people as its greatest asset above all else.
Lynn Fraas, Chief People Office said in a press release, “Maintaining the health and happiness of our employees both in New York and across the U.S. became even more critical alongside the spread of COVID-19. We’ve been reevaluating our hiring and business practices to align with the landmark changes in our industry and will continue to strive to make Terakeet a “best place to work” as that concept evolves – our momentum is not stopping!
The Best Workplaces in New York stand out for excelling in one of the nation’s most competitive marketplaces. Terakeet has been able to see the immediate impact of its work in the area of career development translated into better scores in the annual survey administered by Great Places to Work, alongside recognition across a variety of local, regional, and national employment awards this past year.
