Q1: How did you come to work at Terakeet? What is your favorite part about working here?
When I was finishing college at American University, I wasn’t sure where I wanted to start my career. I hadn’t planned to come back to Syracuse after college, but my fiancé and I decided to move back here after my graduation and I began looking for work in the area. I was genuinely shocked to come across Terakeet, a company with so many writing positions available. I applied to Terakeet while I was still in DC and ended up being one of the company’s first remote interviews.
Having come to Terakeet right out of college, I think I’m pretty spoiled. We have a lot of benefits here that aren’t standard at other companies. But my favorite part is the flexibility we have in our work schedule. Having a lot of pets, it’s nice to be able to schedule vet appointments and shift my work schedule around so that I can take care of them.
Q2: Tell us a little more about you outside of work! What’s one thing most people wouldn’t know about you?
I think most people know this, but it’s one of the main things I do outside of work so I feel like I have to mention it; I ride horses. I’ve been riding since I was very young and continued doing it through college and into my early professional life. I got a new horse about a month ago; her name is Tivoli and she’s 18.

Q3: What’s your current obsession?
During the pandemic, my husband and I got into board games and now we play almost every night. Our current obsession is the trading card game Magic: the Gathering. Usually, we start playing around 8 pm, but I really like to win so sometimes we end up playing until 11 or later.
Q4: Choose a movie title for the story of your life.
“Well, that didn’t go as planned”
Q5: What’s the strangest/coolest thing that’s ever happened to you?
When I was a senior in college, I got to meet Alan Alda who played Hawkeye on “M*A*S*H.” Even though I’m in my twenties, “M*A*S*H” is one of my favorite shows so I was really excited to meet him.
Q6: What would your desert island band/artist be, and why?
I’ve always been a country music fan, so I think I have to say Carrie Underwood. She has such a range of songs that I could find something to match whatever mood I’m in.

Q7: What is one thing you’ve tried recently that has helped you stay calm and focused?
I’ve been trying to allow myself time to relax and recharge even if I feel like I have a lot to do. Also, with the lifting of pandemic restrictions, I’ve been able to go back to Barnes and Noble and use that time to write or browse.
